Activities: Final Reflection of Internship Experience
Technical Information: Scanner/ Check out computer, Microsoft Office, Calculator
Reflection: Looking back on my internship, I had a ton of fun working at Quarter Note Music Store and I am glad that I got to do my internship there opposed to anywhere else. I am pleased to say that I still plan on working at Quarter Note until I leave for college because I have become a big help around the store and I really enjoy working there. I am glad to be a part of a local "small business" because I think small businesses are the best kind around. The customer service and mom and pop feel to Quarter Note is unlike any other music store, and I am honored to be employed there. All of my co-workers are great to work with and my employers are the best people I have ever worked for. I look forward to working more for Quarter Note and I will most definitely miss my time there when it comes time to go.

Activities: Things I have done in my internship that I am proud of.
Technical Information: Scanner/ Check out computer, Microsoft Office, Calculator Reflection: Throughout my internship at Quarter Note Music store I am always proud of the work I do on any guitar brought in or any help that I offer to a customer. I am glad that I got to help many people re-string and learn to re-string guitars as well as learn to clean and care for their instrument. The thing that makes me most proud however, is the sincerity of my work. Everything I did at Quarter Note I did to the best of my ability and made it the best I could.

Activities: How my duties have changed since I started.
Technical Information: Scanner/ Check out computer, Microsoft Office, Calculator
Reflection: When I first started, I was always working with someone who had been there and I simply followed what they did and often needed help to work with the computer system. Now, I work behind the counter alone at times and I have learned the software and sometimes I have to refresh other employees about it. I have definitely become more independent in the work place than I was when I first started. I also give my input to company decisions or ideas in hopes to make the store better unlike when I first started. The biggest change since I have started working there until now has just been what I am capable of doing in the store and how I am now able to help any customer that walks into the door.

Activities: Major frustrations at work.
Technical Information: Scanner/ Check out computer, Microsoft Office, Calculator
Reflection: There aren't many frustrations at Quarter Note Music Store. All my co-workers are nice and fun to work with. Sometimes customers come in the store that are difficult to deal with, but I have to help them and make sure they get what they need. Sometimes I have trouble finding music books and pieces of music because of the large supply of music that we have but that is my only problem in the store. Whenever I can't find something, my manager is always willing to help me find it.

Activities: Training/ Education to pursue this career.
Technical Information: Scanner/ Check out computer, Microsoft Office, Calculator
Reflection: In order to be a music store owner, I would need knowledge of music and musical instruments, general business knowledge, and some knowledge of computers. The music knowledge would help me pick products that are of good quality. It will also help me determine how many of each thing I should buy because some items are in higher demand than others and some parts need to be replaced more often than others so they should be in higher stock. The business knowledge would help me market my store and attract customers with deals and prices to beat other companies and make a good profit. Lastly, computers help keep track of inventory, rental customers, and music teacher schedules. I love music but this would not be my first choice in a profession only because I am more interested in a military career.

Activities: Hard work to complete any task given.
Technical Information: Scanner/ Check out computer, Microsoft Office, Calculator
Reflection: I think my biggest contribution to Quarter Note Music is my work ethic. I do a lot of work in the store front directing customers and working the cash
register. However, I also do a lot of the busy cleaning work around the store
that needs to be done to maintain a clean and organized store. I always start
my day by asking my manager what I can do to help her out in the store and she
always has a task for me. Some days I sort piles of old instruments, re-string
guitars, tune and clean guitars in the store, and others I take out trash and
sweep, clean counter tops, and help organize and stock books and products.

Activities: Microsoft Excel to organize music lessons and make price charts.
Technical Information: Scanner/ Check out computer, Microsoft Office, Calculator
Reflection: My Computer Applications classes I took in the beginning of my high school
career are becoming very helpful in my internship. Quarter Note Music Store
offers music lessons of all kinds. When people come into the store looking for
lessons, I have to check and edit the teaching schedules on an excel spread
sheet. In addition to the schedules, price charts are also made through excel.
My knowledge of excel helps greatly to set up price charts with formulas to add
tax to the product. In addition to Microsoft Office, my class room experience
with guitars and music have helped me direct customers to the product they
need. I have played guitar my whole life, so whenever someone comes in with a
guitar question or needs a guitar re-strung I am happy to help and do whatever
is needed to be done. The only thing I wish I had learned before the internship
is just general information about band instruments. I knew absolutely nothing
about band instruments before starting my internship, and people often come in
with questions, so I have had to learn a lot.
